It’s no surprise that happy employees are 31% more productive than unhappy ones.
I once had a co-worker tell me, “Sometimes you have to add sugar to the lemonade. Or you can just leave it sour…either way it’s your choice.”
The thought that a person can decide to do something or nothing really struck me.
Maybe it was those cranky co-workers (the ones that complained like crazy), or the ones that were bitter (and complained like crazy), or even the ones that seemed downright mean (also who complained like crazy), that I officially realized that I could do something or nothing in every situation.
I’m now a firm believer in the three-step process:
Show empathy and see life through their glasses
Pour some sugar by giving them some positive energy (the kind a friend would give, the genuine kind)
Then let it go….because if you don’t, you will turn into one of those people (who probably is a little bitter and complains like crazy).
By focusing on what I can control, with my own actions and reactions, I create a more positive environment for myself and others.
Ultimately, I happen to the world, not the other way around (and you do too).
