I know it will be short-lived, but I hope our kids hang on to the magic of childhood just a little bit longer and have memories that feel big and bright!
It's been nearly 4 years since we moved back to Iowa!
The kids have been asking to visit Milwaukee regularly and so this summer, we carved out a little time to go back and do all the things we "used to do."
From swimming on Lake Michigan, to a Brewers game, visiting their old school, eating at their favorite places, and playing at the parks where they first learned how to swing or go down the slide....I couldn't help but laugh every time I could see the memories kick in and a smile cross their faces!
It was bittersweet in many ways...
"It's just like I remember, Mom!" Then occasionally our son would say things like, "I remember it to be bigger" or "It seemed more exciting when we lived here." Our daughter was five when we moved and so most of the trip felt new and unexplored and blissful.
I know it will be short-lived, but I hope our kids hang on to the magic of childhood just a little bit longer and have memories that feel big and bright!
So great to see the city that "grew our family" and thanks to a few of the friends we got to see while visiting.
