I always picture your energy as a pendulum, and we must ask, “Where’s my energy?” Are you swinging too mad, too happy? Are you in the middle?
Recently I had this coaching client, and we talked about how they often match their team members’ energy.
- If their team members were upset, they automatically feel that way. -Or if a team member thinks something's unfair, they automatically match the energy, and the conversations don't end well.
And the question I posed to them was, “does your energy need to match theirs?”
This is a really good question to ask in life, even with kids and family members…
Does our energy NEED to match all of the time?
How do we harness more of the good energy versus the bad?
After I asked them that, they had a couple of conversations with their tricky team member, and when that person got slightly heated, they didn't match it. They stayed calm and curious.
And it worked.
They held their center.
I always picture your energy as a pendulum, and we must ask, “Where’s my energy?” Are you swinging too mad, too happy? Are you in the middle?
It can be powerful to free yourself from having to match the energy of others! Instead, radiate your OWN.
Curious about how to manage your energy? Let’s talk about it! I’d love to connect.
