Joy doesn't always require extensive time or resources, it can happen in small increments.

“Beware of destination addiction: the idea that happiness is in the next place, next job, or even the next partner. Until you give up the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are.” ~ Robert Holden

Gosh, if that isn’t the truth!

It also reminds us that Joy doesn't always require extensive time or resources, it can happen in small increments.

Here are two of my favorites:

Date nights – who has time for these? My husband and I have odd work schedules and spend most nights driving our kids around to sports and activities, so we get creative with date night! Most Wednesdays from 3-4 pm are the PERFECT time for date night (ok, date hour, but who’s counting?). We give our kids technology and a snack, and we take an hour's walk or run to a local coffee shop for jet fuel. This small slice of time keeps our marriage going!!

15 Minute Drive Bys – I have a few friends who live in the same town as me and though we wish we could do full-blown “girls’ nights,” our season of life (kids and jobs) just doesn’t allow for it. So, we improvise! Usually one of us will text, “Got 15?” If the answer is yes, they swing over for 15 minutes, and we stand in the driveway drink sparkling water, and catch up on life. It’s amazing what a few friendship moments can do for the soul.

It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, but taking small steps toward joy can make a big difference.
