“How do I grow my confidence?"

So if you find yourself hoping to build confidence, embrace the attitude “I’ll figure it out along the way,” get in motion (just practice) and watch your confidence grow.

I am asked this often:

“How do I grow my confidence? Where do you get your confidence from?”

I often tell them…

I’m not confident things will go well, or I’ll do everything right, but instead, I will figure it out along the way (muddle through it as best I can).

It’s almost like… my UN-confidence gives me confidence.

I know… not the response you’d expect!

Here’s what I know….

In order to get better at anything, a person has to practice (go from novice, to competent, to proficient to expert). It’s never been my experience that you get to skip a step, but it takes persistence and effort to go from where you are now to where you want to be.

So I give myself the grace to fail a few times, to miss the mark, all so that I can move forward with practice under my belt.

It’s the motion that builds confidence, not the end result.

It’s like a muscle, right? At first, your strength and capacity for weights may not be impressive, but as you

continue, it increases.

So if you find yourself hoping to build confidence, embrace the attitude “I’ll figure it out along the way,” get in motion (just practice) and watch your confidence grow.

That’s my secret.

What would you add?
