How should we prepare ourselves for new chapters in life?
Whether it's switching careers, starting a business, welcoming a new baby, or any significant life transition, preparation is key!
I often work with teams on change management (philosophy, mindset, and methods), helping them get ready for shifts within their organizations.
It's funny because with so many changes happening in my own business over the next few months, I’m reminded of the importance of practicing what I preach!
Here are 4 ways to prepare yourself for change:
1 - Stay Positive (yet realistic): Embrace change as an opportunity for growth. One of my favorite mantras here is, “Everything is figure-outable.”
2 - Plan Ahead: Outline steps to navigate the transition smoothly. This may come in the form of a to-do list or even a dump list of things to keep track of or consider. I also consider who the change may affect and think through my communication plan for them.
3 - Stay Flexible: Be ready to adapt as things evolve. That age-old adage of, never say never truly applies here. I don’t let my mind fully believe that things will turn out exactly as planned because they usually don’t (and if they do, even better!).
4 - Remember, it's not just about managing the change, but creating a mindset and a process to get through it. We’re all in this together!
I would love to know...What big changes are you preparing for?
